Team Bodylogic

Prior to opening Body Logic in 2011, Mick gained experience in clinics across Auckland and Europe, including work with the NZ Triathlon team for the London 2012 Olympics. Throughout the Olympic year, Mick also worked closely with numerous international triathlon teams. Mick's passion for sports and challenges drives him to promote a healthy, active lifestyle. His thesis on managing cycling related injuries along with his ongoing involvement with sports teams has led to an expertise in managing sporting injury. Viewing injuries as unique to each individual, Mick tailors treatment plans accordingly, prioritising understanding and personalised care. From 2013 to 2019, Mick served as the treatment provider and manager for the Taranaki Airs in the National Basketball League. Outside of work Mick has competed in numerous endurance events, played club rugby, football, basketball and pulls out the snowboard for winter. More recently, Mick has taken up speed golf which helps balance his exercise needs with time at home! Mick is TPI (Titleist Institute) Certified, and helps manage all golfing related injuries/strains.

Jesse has been an osteopath at Bodylogic since 2013 after graduating with his Master's degree with second class honours. Hailing from Whangārei in the winterless north, Jesse considers himself a general osteopath, using both structural and the more subtle functional/cranial treatment approaches depending on what he feels is most suited to each patient at the time. Jesse has a large focus on helping the nervous system (which he would describe as the body's mainframe computer) to function appropriately for the body to best utilise its innate self-healing mechanisms. Outside of work Jesse enjoys spending as much time as he can with his wife and two young boys. He and his wife feel lucky to be raising their boys in such a unique part of the country. The relaxed vibe of Taranaki suits them down to a tee. His other talents/interests include surfing, mountain biking, basketball, hitting a golf ball straight (sometimes), being a fulltime Warriors fan and reciting one-liners from the film "Nacho Libre".

Dan specialises in acute and chronic Back, Neck, Jaw and Shoulder pain. He uses a mix of direct structural techniques, gentle non-direct osteopathic techniques and dry needling techniques that decrease pain levels, increase mobility, improve posture and prevent re-injury. Dan has been in the health and wellness industry for over 25 years. When he is not in the clinic, he loves to surf, play golf, and roll around his yoga mat. He is also a yoga educator who travels the world teaching educational retreats and workshops.

Bonjour! Caroline's story began 5 years ago when she arrived in New Zealand. Initially, she planned to stay for just a year on a working holiday visa, but she met a Kiwi man and decided to remain. Since then, she has explored most of New Zealand's countryside, moved house seven times, attended ten silent meditation retreats, got a dog, and bought a house. Although she hasn't learned to surf yet, she is tempted. Caroline is very grateful for her job, her work team, and her patients, from whom she learns so much. She specialises in fascia, visceral, and cranial techniques, having trained in these areas in France back in 2011.

Kauri was drawn to New Plymouth for the lifestyle on offer, mainly our world class surf breaks. He is very well travelled, spending 6 years traveling the world and immersing in different cultures. His interest in the human body goes back many years and led him to study Osteopathy. Kauri's approach is centred around creating individualised rehabilitation plans that integrate strength and conditioning. In doing this, he finds recovery is not only more effective but also promotes improved function, resilience, and reduced risk of future injury. This approach fosters long-term well- being and empowers individuals to regain confidence in their movement and health. A qualified surf coach and top surfer himself, Kauri is also a keen snow boarder and mountain biker.

Stephen graduated from AUT in 2006 and continued to work on Auckland’s North Shore for the next 12 years. In 2017 Stephen completed a hard-earned Master of Health Practice specialising in rehabilitation as well as a post-graduate diploma in acupuncture. Stephen enjoys combining clinical skills with a firm belief in an active approach to rehabilitation and understands that we are all different and there is not a ‘one size fits all’ when it comes to treatment. Stephen gets satisfaction out of working with people and helping them successfully return to the activities that are important to them. Stephen is an elite runner and has represented New Zealand in road running and competed in races in England, Japan, Canada and Australia. Outside of work Stephen loves spending time with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters (the eldest of which was born on the same day Stephen won the Auckland marathon) and is looking forward to the opportunity of learning to surf (however long that may take).

Lasantha (Lasa) is an experienced physiotherapist and brings a varied skill set to the team. With a great interest in healthcare and a desire to assist others, he chose physiotherapy as his career and has always enjoyed his work. Graduating from the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, he found a great opportunity to begin his career at one of the largest hospitals in Sri Lanka, Kandy National Hospital. Lasa has had a passion for Rugby since an early age and was always drawn to New Zealand as a dream destination to live, work and raise his young family. Lasa brings a background in elite sport, having worked as a physiotherapist for Sri Lankan Cricket. Lasa misses the warmer weather of back home, but loves the environment and people of NZ. He embraces outdoor adventures, reflecting his enthusiastic and dynamic approach to life.

Felicity has been a qualified physiotherapist and pilates instructor since 2003. She likes to look at the bigger picture and you will always leave with a better understanding, some self- care strategies or exercises to do. She treats with a combo of hands on, dry needling and exercise prescription depending on the clients needs. She is particularly skilled at multi-trauma and post-surgical rehab.

Michelle graduated from University of Otago in 2004 and feels very fortunate to still love what she does. She has worked in a variety of physio settings from Wellington to London and even onboard a superyacht before finally settling down in New Plymouth to raise her family. She enjoys treating a range of conditions from acute injuries to long term recurrent issues in which she feels biomechanics have a huge part to play. She has become increasingly aware of the impact stress, sleep, diet and exercise can have on inflammation and pain and is passionate about encouraging people to thrive rather than survive. Her treatments are specific to the individual using hands-on techniques, dry needling and exercise rehabilitation. To assist in addressing the overall picture she has completed certificates in breathing dysfunction and nutrition coaching. Michelle’s main sporting passion was always netball but recently she would more likely be found trail running, swimming or in a Pilates class. She is kept busy in and around home with her husband and 4 children who all love being out and about in this beautiful region.

Patrick was born and raised in Auckland and this is where he started his physio career. Patrick has since relocated to New Plymouth with his partner and they have recently welcomed the addition of their son Levi. Patrick has now been working as a physio in New Plymouth for almost 2 years and loves to be able to call this place home. "I am a very busybody who loves to exercise and my greatest passion lies within Rugby. I am an avid rugby player starting back when I was 4.5 years old. I have always lived an active, sport-filled life, and still enjoy sports outside of rugby such as gym, surfing and walking/hiking". Now living in New Plymouth he has the luxury of exploring all the amazing walks, hikes, and surfing available on our backdoor, alongside being able to continue his passion for rugby at Tukapa rugby club. "My goal in life is to continue to help people. I love that I can help people not only recover from injury but help people live a healthier, more active, happier lifestyle".

Stella completed her physiotherapy degree at AUT University. She has experience working with a range of patients in various settings, including on the sports field, in hospitals, clinics, and schools. She enjoys getting to know her patients and helping them get back on their feet as quickly as possible by using a range of manual therapy, exercise prescription, and dry needling techniques. Stella and her partner Patrick relocated to New Plymouth three years ago and love enjoying all that this beautiful town has to offer with their young son, Levi!

Bridget has been involved in sports, health, pathology and healing arts her entire life. Prior to commencing her BSc (honours) in Acupuncture in 2005, she had a 14 year career working in hospitals in NZ and the UK as a Biomedical Scientist. Since completing her degree in Chinese Medicine, she has worked in India (also completing 200 hours of Yoga Teacher training), trained in Thai massage in Bangkok, hosted Wellness Retreats in Austria, volunteered in a local medical clinic in Kenya and opened her own private practice here in New Plymouth in 2010. Bridget uses her career thus far and varied life experiences to create a safe, non judgmental and empathic healing space. Bridget has specialist training in paediatric acupuncture and Integrative Medicine. Bridget loves living back home in New Plymouth with her young daughter and spending as much time as possible in nature and on the beach.

Nigel is a dedicated practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), a comprehensive medical system with a rich history spanning millennia in China. Armed with a Bachelor of Health Science in Traditional Acupuncture, a Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine, and a Certificate in Tui na massage, Nigel brings a wealth of expertise to his practice. Nigel's scope of practice covers a wide array of treatments, from Acupuncture-ACC for pain management and inflammation reduction to non-ACC acupuncture for conditions such as headaches, autoimmune disorders, and chronic fatigue. He also employs techniques like cupping for muscle tension and congestion, moxibustion to enhance circulation and restore function, and acupressure massage for muscle tension, pain relief, and stress reduction. Nigel's approach to herbal medicine involves utilising contemporary and classical formulas tailored to each individual after a thorough diagnosis, often recommending 1-3 months of prescriptions. With a focus on prevention and restoring harmony to the body, TCM under Nigel's care addresses acute, sub-acute, and chronic conditions, offering a safe and holistic treatment strategy for those seeking wellness and balance.

Vanessa comes to us all the way from the South of France. She first earned her beauty therapist degree in her early 20s and then specialised in traditional Chinese massage and deep tissue massage, which includes acupressure points to release tension and rebalance the body's energy. With a passion for birth, Vanessa is also certified in pregnancy and postnatal massage. "Self-care is crucial and highly effective for maintaining good mental health. Through my experiences and travels while working and learning about various cultures, I've come to understand the deep connection between the mind and body. I bring this understanding to my massage practice with great care and empathy for my clients." "As a busy mom to my little boy, I cherish the simple pleasures in life, whether it’s enjoying a black coffee with a croissant, taking a bushwalk, breathwork classes, yin yoga, gardening, or going for a swim. I also love hosting friends for a delicious homemade meal."

Taylor was born and raised in Alberta, Canada where the winters can get as cold as -50 degrees celsius, vehicles have to be plugged, but countered with beautiful endless skies and snow. Taylor trained as a registered massage therapist in Canada and has experience running his own practice, working at a physiotherapy clinic and also doing home visits to clients. He feels this is the perfect field for him as he is part of peoples rehabilitation journey and is always encouraged seeing the difference a massage can make to allow people to live life with an improved sense of body wellbeing. Taylor and his wife decided to take a leap of faith after dreaming of living in New Zealand for years. He felt New Plymouth was a great location considering the size of the town, the beauty of the coast, the accessibility to nature and activities. Taylor has travelled to many countries and enjoys hiking, wake boarding, scuba diving and playing board games.He is looking forward to meeting the New Plymouth community.

Ethan grew up in the rural countryside of Taranaki. After school, he spent 15 years as an electrician, working across roles from project management to running his own business. His love of travel has taken him through South-East Asia, Europe, India, the UK, and America, with work experiences in Australia, Canada, and Scotland helping him see different perspectives of life. During the challenges of Covid, when his daughter moved to Italy, Ethan was inspired to make significant life changes. He trained in Massage Therapy in Auckland and discovered a true passion for improving the wellbeing of others. Expanding his skills further, he became a Yoga teacher and Reiki master, embracing a holistic approach to mind–body–spirit health. Ethan specialises in relieving muscular tension and focuses on uncovering the root causes of tightness whether its repetitive strain, trauma/injury or posture-related. Outside of his professional work, he finds peace in nature walks, archery, yoga, meditation, and breathwork while always looking to try new things.

Aliesha has been all go and high energy ever since she become earth side, she’s a busy gal with a busy mind, that’s why Pilates and fitness is her happy place with having to connect her mind and body! Aliesha holds a Bachelor of Sports and Leisure through The University of Waikato, STOTT Mat and Barre trained and has certification in pre and postnatal training. Aliesha truly believes that movement is a gift, her sessions provide a safe, welcoming environment where you will learn about your body and its movement, find strength, confidence and leave feeling invigorated. Aliesha is passionate about prenatal and postnatal care for women, having two young kids herself she knows moving your body safely pre/postnatally is essential for your mental and physical health.

As a teenager, Di was a competitive swimmer, netballer, squash, and cricket player before moving to New Plymouth from the Bay of Plenty. She was also a long-distance walker, competing in half and full marathons for many years before a back injury slowed her down a few years ago. Many will also recognize her from her over 15 years as a swim instructor, teaching babies as young as six weeks old to adults as old as 90. Di has also spent many weeknights and weekends at various hockey turfs throughout New Zealand with her two daughters, who were age-group Taranaki representatives over the last decade. Although she is not currently teaching swimming on the side, she can still be seen in the water during summer, stand-up paddleboarding, or enjoying the many beaches and rivers Taranaki has to offer.  She feels very privileged to join the team of friendly and knowledgeable practitioners at Bodylogic and looks forward to helping make your experience with them a great one!

Born and bred in New Plymouth the desire to travel saw Chris head overseas where she lived and travelled having some amazing experiences around the world. Back in New Zealand work opportunities took Chris and her husband to Auckland, Rotorua and Napier where they lived and worked. Eleven years ago the pull of their families and the mountain called them back to New Plymouth. “They say the mountain brings you back home eventually”. How true! Living Life To The Max - her happy place is in the great outdoors tamping, walking, mountain biking, gardening or at the beach revitalising the soul. Renovating her home, coffee with a friend, watching the sunset, sharing meals with family and friends and her two daughters are life’s real pleasures.
